Virtual Divino Wine Club differences:
The Virtual Divino Wine Club is a traditional Wine Club but improved in a couple of ways:
The wines are unique. I’ve been fortunate enough to develop relationships with sources that are not working with “Agents”, something most people don’t even realize exist. There are easily 1 million wine producers on the planet but you only see a few thousand labels because of these agents, hired by wineries to get their wines into the portfolios of distributors. But there are a few smaller shops that don’t work with them, what they do is in fact pretty remarkable. Now I know we have this fantastical image in mind of traveling around the world drinking and selecting wine in luxury to pick what we get to sell back in the states. That’s not what happens. These distributors work 14-15 hour days, getting to small towns, talking to the locals, asking what THEY drink, hiking to small wine makers, meeting them, touching the ground, touching the vines. They are selecting wines that no one would ever find otherwise. That is how we’re sourcing our wine, that is what this wine club will offer. Unique, delicious, wine you want to drink.
Imminently drinkable. When it comes to enjoying wine is there anything more relevant than that? In your collection at home you might have a few, a few dozen, a few hundred wines, but when you’re ready to drink something you’re looking for something that’s ready now. Something that pairs with your meal, something that your guests will appreciate, something delicious. The wines we have are not all the wines you will own, just the ones you are more likely to reach for before the others. Our goal is to have our wine club selections being the first wines you think about opening from your collections.
But why Tim? I’ve grown up with a wine glass in my hand from an early age, and been collecting and studying wine for about 30 years. I believe in wine you enjoy by drinking, wines that change and improve your mood. I’ve talked with people about the art of collecting, how you have to stack the wine you want to drink every day in front of the wine you want to age. I’ve done this for so long now (decades), that I have come to realize the value of those wines in front is honestly higher than the ones in back. But I also have talked to so many people about why they cancel their wine club memberships and it almost always has to do with them looking at the wine they have, and thinking they want greater variety, often too much from one winery so time to move to another.

Each month’s selections will be available for purchase on the Wine Club’s website for two months (or less if sold out). Question 3 also describes the ageability of the wines.
2. Can I change my subscription?
You can either send an email to tim@scopodivino.com to request a change to your subscription or you could go to the My Account section and cancel your current subscription and select a different subscription.
3. You describe the wines as delicious to drink now but can I age the ones that I really love?
Our experience with our wine library selections suggests that all club selections will age well for two to three years for the whites and at least three to five years for the reds.
4. Do you focus on only a few countries, regions, or grape varietals?
The club is intended to be a fun exploration of interesting wines from many countries, regions, and varietals. It will be like an extended vacation enjoying local wines from lots of places!
